My granddaughter's name is Aiden Komadina and the year was 2002. Her school J. L. Mudd Elementary in O'Fallon, Mo. was having a special Veterans' Day celebration. They invite the fathers, mothers, grandparents, etc. who served their country for an all school musical celebration. Tom is one of the few who can still wear his dress blues as you can see. Each serviceman introduces himself, his unit, and when he served.

John Henry Mashunkashey was born December 23, 1946. He is the son of Billy A. Mashunkashey and the late Henrietta Coshehe Mashunkashey. John Henry has two sons, Russell and Ross. Russell Mashunkashey, who lives in Lawrence, is completing his masters degree at KU. Ross Mashunkashey resides in Hominy with wife Christina and works at the Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino. John Henry has two grandaughters Jolena and Lauren who reside in Fort Gibson. John Henry married Ahnawake McKee in December 2005 and they continue to reside in Barnsdall. They are both graduates of Pawhuska High School, class of '65. John Henry entered the United States Marine Corps in December 1965, served in Viet Nam, was a WIA in 1968, and Honorably Discharged in 1971. He graduated from Haskell Indian Junior College with an Associates Degree in General Education in 1974. While in Lawrence, John Henry worked with the Veterans Administration in Topeka on a voluntary basis with Native American combat veterians experiencing PTS affiated with alcohol and substance abuse. He returned to Pawhuska in 1985 and worked for the Osage Tribe's Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program for nearly two years. He then returned to heavy construction and over the road transportation until he retired in March of 2006. John Henry currently serves on the Osage Minerals Council. He and his family would like to thank the Red Ribbon Committee for this honor and wishes all well.
