To Our Echo Company Family
Last Thursday when Don called and stated that he was stepping down from the leadership role as President of Echo 2/3, I was sad but understood his decision to do so, and very humbled by his request for me to fill in as the interim president until we gather in Pensacola, Fl on September 22, 2010. I would ask for both your prayers and guidance over the next few months as we continue the work started by Don and the others to re-unite our “Family of Brothers”.
The work which began several years ago, of gathering our family once again, will continue in earnest as the top priorities for the group have been threefold.
1. To locate and visit with all the former members who served in Echo 2/3.
2. To facilitate any help to those in need, whether it is the Marine or his immediate family, especially for the families of our KIAs.
3. To host a family gathering each year where we all come together to socialize and remember those brave brothers and sisters who gave their all for our freedom.
With these three priorities in mind, I will be contacting some of you to assist in these efforts, and make our organization the strongest that it can possibly be in the future. I think many of us have discovered how important it is to rejoin the family, and through the association we become stronger ourselves. I know for myself, getting re-acquainted with all of you has made my life more complete in so many ways. For two years I did not get to attend the reunions because of going through extensive cancer treatments, after Rod and Nancy visited with me in Little Rock, AK returning from the reunion, I realized how important this gathering is, and I prayed that I could, at least make another gathering. The importance of our relationships is very important, and we need to do everything we can to enhance and grow this.
I would appreciate any and all recommendations from everyone to make our organization stronger and growing in the coming years. Your suggestions and ideas will be greatly appreciated.
May God Bless and Keep All Our Family
