After 37 1/2 years Lance Corporal David M. Jordan was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star w/"V" for his heroic actions on 30 April 1967 while serving with Echo Co. 2nd Bn 3rd Marines, Weapons Platoon.

During a moving ceremony on 11 December 2004 in Lance Corporal David M. Jordan's hometown of Monroe, NC his mother Louise Helms and his sister Sara Rorie were presented with Lance Corporal David M. Jordan's Bronze Star w/"V".

Many years of hard and determined work went into assuring that the heroic actions of Lance Corporal David M. Jordan on 30 April 1967 did not go unnoticed.  Because of that work Lance Corporal David M. Jordan and his family ultimately received recognition for his valor.

I want to take this opportunity to commend those responsible for seeing to it that the awarding of the Bronze Star w/"V" and subsequent ceremony for Lance Corporal David M. Jordan and his family was finally achieved after all these years:
