BURIAL AT ARLINGTON

Any member of the Armed Forces who dies on active duty is eligible to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Also eligible are honorably discharged members of the Armed Forces who received a Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star or Purple Heart and any veteran retired from active service. Arlington National Cemetery does not make prearrangements for military funerals nor can a surviving spouse or parent of the deceased make plans with the cemetery directly. The funeral director of a local funeral home will make the arrangements by making contact with the Interment Services Branch at Arlington National Cemetery at (703) 695-3250. The cemetery pays all funeral costs.
